Rinpoche's Travels
Shangpa Rinpoche has been in Kalimpong recently, to celebrate Losar (Tibetan New Year) at Jangchub Choeling Monastery. Whilst there he has been leading the Lamas in a special 7 Day long Mahakala Puja. The pujas took place each day from 3am to 8pm. Shangpa Rinpoche has passed on that he felt that a very good and strong aspiration was made for world peace and for the benefit of all sentient beings. He said that the Lamas very much enjoyed the puja practice.
Rinpoche spent two days over Losar in Kalimpong to pay respects to HH 17 Karmapa, Thrinley Thaye Dorje, and Shamar Rinpoche. He then travelled to Dehli, before returning to Nepal on 25 February. Shangpa Rinpoche is due to return to Singapore on 2 March 2007.

A few notes on Rinpoche's activities
Rinpoche was at the Kagyu Institute for Buddhist Studies (KIBS) since 1 Jan 2005. The first course at the Institute started on 5 Jan and there were short prayers made prior to the course starting, led by Shangpa Rinpoche, Dupsing Rinpoche, Khenpo Ramesh and the members of the Sangha. Khenpo Ramesh taught the course, which was on the text 'Distinguishing between Ordinary Consciousness and Wisdom' by HH3 Karmapa, Rangjung Dorje.
In the speech given by Ven Shangpa Rinpoche after the prayer, Rinpoche expressed that he was filled with joy and happiness to see this day arrive, as the beginning of the courses would plant the seeds for Enlightenment in order to help all sentient beings and create the causes for many beings to be liberated from the sufferings of cyclic existence.
Rinpoche expressed his sincere thanks to Khenpo Ramesh, who has graciously accepted the role of main teacher for the courses in the institute. Khenpo Ramesh is considered to be most learned and well-versed in many of the profound teachings from all the main schools of the Vajrayana . He has specially traveled all the way from India to benefit the students here.
Rinpoche also expressed thanks to the translators, Tony Duff (who is well known for his major contribution in the translation of Tibetan texts and teachings) and Pamela White, who came from France to assist in the translation.
At the end of the session, Rinpoche offered katas to the students to express his wish that they benefit from the course and create great merit allowing them to progress in the Dharma, and to mark the auspicious beginning of their journey of learning here.
Rinpoche then left for Delhi, India for a few days, and returned to KIBS on 12 Jan 2005.

I will be in Muktinath from 12 Oct to 15 Oct, most likely. I do not have much free time as Kirtipur Buddhist Institute is still not completely finished. There are many things waiting for me to approve, so many things will have to be done quickly and efficiently in the days ahead.
