"My Words from the Heart"
A Message regarding the 3rd Mani Dungdrub event at KKDS, Singapore, received from Rinpoche, 24 Dec 2002
"Dear participants in the Mani Dungdrub,
The essence of 84000 teachings, and the Liberator of all sentient
beings, Lord Avalokiteshvara's six syllables Mantra is praised by
the Buddhas of all 3 times. Today we are developing those qualities
of perfection by reciting the Mani Mantra and by meditating on Avalkiteshvara.
This period is the most important part of our life, where one can
engage fully with Dharma activities. Engaging with the Mani
Dungdrup is so meritorious because during this period each person
will
accumulate the merits that are equivalent to one person achieving hundred million recitations of the mantra. For one person to chant a hundred million mantras is very time consuming, and that kind of time we usually don't have, due to our many worldly commitments. However, in this way with the Mani Dungdrub, within a short time, we become part of hundred million recitations and accumulate immeasurable merits.
I am sure that all of you know how great this event is in terms of spiritual value. It gives a chance for everyone to become part of something where they don't have to engage in complicated rituals and formalities. Instead, one just needs to correct ones motivation by developing compassion towards sentient beings, and devotion towards Avalokiteshvara. This will make a person right to chant the mani mantra. So this simple and profound practice can suit everyone, and therefore I encourage everyone to join this meritorious practice and benefit sentient beings and one self too.

Shangpa Rinpoche
This event gives you a real understand of how the time or each moment is precious and impermanent. This period of 18 days should be treated like one life, and that life is an opportunity for us to accomplish Avalokiteshvara. Just like this short moment, we should also treasure every moment of our whole life, which is so important and yet it's so impermanent. Therefore we learn and train from this 18 days progress of practic,e and we should bring that example into our daily life, for the rest of our lives. This will enable us to attain Enlightenment of one self and also to become a Liberator of all sentient beings within the shortest of periods.
I sincerely request that all of you actively take part in this great event of Mani Dungdrup, and accumulate Merits and eradicate the Karma that we have. I am very sure that this event, with pure motivation, will really change world from disaster and violent situations to one of peace and of harmony. Avalokiteshvara and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will bless you and all sentient beings, so they become a subject of Avalokiteshvara, and overcome the samsaric suffering forever.
Most importantly, the Buddha's teachings flourish, and this will always give the message of compassion and wisdom. Furthermore, the lineage of the Karma Kagyu will flourish, and everyone will get a profound teaching and all can become the suitable container for the Mahamudra essence.
My Best regards to Dupsing Rinpoche, Tsultrim Rinpoche, Lama Tenrab and all the Lamas. Thanks to all on the active committee of the Karma Kagyu Buddhist Centre, Singapore, and to the Mani sub-committee. You have all worked so hard for this event to make it a great success. I am proud of you all for your dedications. Also to all the participants who motivate to benefit sentient beings and develop the qualities of Avalokiteshvara by chanting 100 million Mani Mantras.
Take care, and I always wish you best, and 'Merry Christmas, from Nepal.
(Forgive
me my poor English grammar and limited vocabulary but sincerely from my
heart I express this and please let everyone see it.)
Shangpa Rinpoche."
